The Confluence Project
Maya Lin has been commissioned to build a series of public art installations along the lower Columbia River. Together, these works make up the Confluence Project. It looks like a very nice change of pace from her more visible projects that have been stuck between landscape and architecture. It displays a sensitivity for the tribal role in the area that has generated plenty of support for the work. But it isn't without some detractor(s).
