World Environment Day 2009

The UN is encouraging everyone everywhere to celebrate World Environment Day today. It is a lot like Earth Day, but after the school year is over. They have a link to a video about Earth From Above's Yann Arthus-Bertrand and his new film Home which debuting tonight in Central Park and at the Eifel Tower.

The giant landscape architecture and planning firm, EDAW, soon to be Design + Planning at AECOM, has a great Flash celebration of World Environment Day. And Steve Hamblin wrote a nice piece in Landscape Architecture about the value of increasing native perennials in our landscapes. It isn't exactly the most recent issue, but the topic is still timely.

Don't forget that Bertrand's outdoor photography exhibit runs through June 28 in Battery Park.
